Journey into the past
We recently took our annual trip into the Docklands to visit Futurebuild and were reminded of how alien it is.
Implementing The Building Safety Act in collaborative practice
The Building Safety Act is long overdue and welcome shake up of the industry. However, how does this work in the day-to-day of a collaborative approach to practice?
Questions we are asked
We are a few months on from the start of New-works and it has been an exciting journey. Our approach to design has not changed from the work we did as TDO, but the way we are proposing to do it has. There are some really interesting questions coming from that. Here is an FAQ.
A culture change is needed
We see inherent problems with how our profession goes about being architects, which is separate from the architecture (although we argue if you improve the former you also improve the latter). New-works was founded to explore how we might address this, and there was a bit of a leap of faith involved.
About our logo
The New-works logotype was designed by Richard Ardagh Studio. His work designing our logo encapsulates the strength we see in specialism and collaboration.
AI will lead to a new way of working
Artificial Intelligence will change how architects work. The question is how it will do that and how we should be responding.

Why ‘methods’ is the operative word in modern methods of construction
Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) does not have the best reputation. The front cover of Offsite magazine alone is usually enough to make you want to give up being an architect.
A new way of working
The architectural corner of the construction industry needs to change. Here’s what we think needs to happen.
